Murree: According to news reports, locals held a protest against officers of the National Highways and Motorway Police for reportedly beating a motorcycle, and traffic on the Murree Expressway was halted for about an hour.
A motorway police officer arrived on the scene to persuade the protestors to stop. Two police officers reportedly involved in the incident had been suspended, the officer informed the demonstrators.
Meanwhile, Murree Raja Rasheed, the Station House Officer (SHO), met with residents and informed them that an investigation will be conducted to discover the reason of the occurrence. The demonstrators eventually dispersed.
The motorcycle, who was not wearing a helmet, did not stop when the police signaled him to do so, according to the demonstrators. According to the police, they pursued down and stopped the bike rider, who was then thrashed.
The motorway police spokesperson could not be reached for comment despite repeated attempts.
