Karachi: According to news reports, Karachi City Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab announced the construction of an 8.8-kilometer road along the Malir river and a bridge across the canal on Sunday (August 8), with the project targeted at connecting the Malir District with the M9. The project will take two months to complete and will cut travel time between the Malir area, Malir Cantt, Karachi airport, and Shahrah-e-Faisal.

This initiative is part of the province’s commitment to resolving the city’s four primary issues: water, sewerage, sanitation, and transportation. In this regard, the city administrator noted that a number of projects were now in the works that were likely to result in a significant transformation of the city in the future, with some of these schemes falling under the direct jurisdiction of the province’s chief minister. The administration has also requested that all key government departments submit their ideas for upgrading the city within 30 days.

Construction work in various parts of the city, including Manora, is reportedly nearing completion, with eateries set to open along Manora Road to provide citizens with more recreational choices.
