Pakistani scientists and an institution have received international accolades in “recognition of the country’s success in the application of nuclear technology for the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs),” according to a statement released by the Foreign Minister on Wednesday.

“The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) have jointly presented an Outstanding Achievement Award on Pakistan’s Nuclear Institute for Agriculture and Biology,” they continued.

The NIAB received the Outstanding Achievement Award, a group of four researchers from the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) received the Team Achievement Award, and another PAEC researcher received the Young Scientist Award for his work in plant change rearing and related advances, according to a ministry statement.

The recipients will be presented with award certificates at the IAEA’s 65th General Conference in September 2021.
