Islamabad: As per the latest news, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday confirmed Pakistan’s determination to complete the required legal process for the Pakistan Stream North-South Gas Pipeline project and begin construction as soon as possible.
He made these remarks during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who had invited him to discuss bilateral ties between Pakistan and Russia as well as regional and global issues.
The prime minister fondly remembered his meeting with President Vladimir Putin at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Bishkek in June 2019, during which he expressed his willingness to elevate the bilateral relationship to new heights.
He was pleased with the steady improvement in bilateral relations, which included increased cooperation in trade, energy, security, and defense.
It was also discussed how to improve bilateral cooperation in the areas of electricity, industrial modernization, railways, and aviation. The Inter-Governmental Commission (IGC), which will meet in Moscow later this year, was agreed to closely follow up on unique initiatives and projects in this context.
The health and economic challenges faced by the Covid-19 pandemic were discussed. The prime minister congratulated Russia on the Sputnik-V vaccine’s production and emphasized Pakistan’s procurement plans in this region.
