Gujranwala: According to a recent news report, Commissioner Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghuman has ordered a crackdown on illegal housing societies across the division. He gave the direction during a briefing given by the Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA) on Friday.

The meeting included officers such as Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Sohail Khwaja, GDA DG Maqbool Ahmed Majoka, ADC Coordination Afzaal Qamar Warraich, AC Revenue Rana Manzoor, Town Planning Director Hafiz Khurram Shehzad, and others.

He stated that selling and purchasing plots by those seeking to establish housing colonies based on preliminary planning consent was not in the public interest and that they could only do so after the scheme’s final approval and sanction.

According to GDA DG Maqbool Ahmed Majoka and Town Planning Director Hafiz Khurram Shehzad, the GDA has approved 55 proposals for housing schemes so far. Approval for 14 projects was in the works, with eight receiving provisional planning consent, two receiving layout plan authorization, and nine receiving full sanction/approval.

They said that notices had been sent to 289 illegal housing schemes in Gujranwala.
