Islamabad: According to press reports, the three-day Housing & Construction Expo 2021, organised by the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), finished on Sunday (September 05). The expo to promote the building sector in Pakistan was inaugurated by Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday (September 3).
The premier stated during the inauguration ceremony that the property and real estate industry has been the greatest employment creator, employing millions of people directly and indirectly.
He said that the government is assisting real estate developers by eliminating roadblocks to the provision of low-cost housing for the world’s 220 million inhabitants. In this sense, the nation has established a housing mortgage strategy to address the housing shortage. PM Khan advised real estate developers to rely less on imports and to make use of the country’s locally available resources.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Imran Khan indicated that during a meeting of the National Coordination Committee on Construction, the issue of lease renewal for industrial units in Islamabad will be resolved (NCCC).
Under the Prime Minister’s Naya Pakistan Housing Programme, ICCI President Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan announced the construction of one million houses. Commercial banks, the Board of Investment, the State Bank of Pakistan, and construction-related industries and businesses such as real estate developers, marketing firms, cement, marble, tiles, electronics, cable, and many more were all represented at the conference.
