Islamabad: According to a news source, Asad Umar, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms, and Special Initiatives, stated on Monday (July 12) that the pace of development work on projects launched under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative is accelerating and will accelerate further in the coming months. During a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong, he expressed these thoughts.

The minister acknowledged his pleasure with the Joint Working Group’s efforts as well as the progress on CPEC projects. Umar went on to say that the government’s top objective is to construct and operationalize Special Economic Zones. He believes that these zones will aid in the formation of collaborative ventures in the manufacturing sector, where both parties will benefit.

Rong and Umar also talked about the next 10th Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting, which will take place on Friday (July 16). Furthermore, economic cooperation between the two countries was discussed. Ambassador Rong stated that the JCC would assist enhance bilateral CPEC commerce and develop new areas of collaboration between the two nations.
