Bahawalpur: Prime Minister Imran Khan may be the principal guest at the foundation-stone laying event, according to retired South Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Cap Saqib Zafar, who vowed to do so when laying the foundation stone of the Multan secretariat in April.

The agricultural department’s failure to fulfil legal and revenue requirements in time to transfer 50 acres of land owned by the Bahawalpur Agriculture Farm to the secretariat caused the delay in the foundation-laying ceremony in Bahawalpur, according to the ACS.
Capt Zafar stated that the Infrastructure Development Authority of Punjab (IDAP) will be in charge of the construction of this Rs 2.5 billion building project, which has already pre-qualified 10 out of 16 construction firms. He claimed that the building’s site and architectural layout had previously been authorised and made public.

He added that the Punjab government has yet to approve the rules of business for the South Punjab secretariat’s operation, but that permission was expected shortly. South Punjab secretaries of seven government ministries, on the other hand, were actively conducting their official duties, he noted.
