Lahore: According to news reports, Punjab Secretary Local Government (LG) Noor-ul-Amin Mengal stated that development work in Sahiwal and Sialkot under the PKR 44 billion Cities Development Programme Phase 1 is nearing completion. While informing Provincial Minister for Local Government and Community Development (LG) Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed on the project’s progress, he gave this information.

According to Megal, the project’s second phase would comprise development plans for Sargodha, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, DG Khan, Bahawalpur, and Multan. The status of the Punjab Cities Program and the Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment Program were also discussed during the conference.

The secretary also informed the conference that work on creating municipal infrastructure is being carried out in 16 cities throughout the province under the Punjab Cities Program at a cost of Rs. 34 billion. Water supply, sewerage, waste management, public parks, and street lighting installation are among the infrastructure development and city enhancement projects that will be completed under this programme. These changes will be made in conformity with international development guidelines.

Minister Rasheed has directed relevant agencies to accelerate and complete development projects within the periods set forth.
