Islamabad: According to media reports, the Senate Standing Committee on Law and Justice passed the Women’s Property Rights Bill 2021 on Thursday.

The meeting, which was held in Parliament House, was presided over by Senator Syed Ali Zafar. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Law and Justice Farogh Naseem and other government officials.

During the meeting, Law and Justice Secretary Raja Naeem Akbar discussed the operations and performance of the Ministry of Law and Justice. The work of administrative tribunals and special courts was also discussed at the meeting.

Furthermore, the secretary indicated that the Federal Public Service Commission’s (FPSC) experiment of appointing judges was a failure. Senator Syed Ali Zafar stated that the process of appointing judges is crucial and has to be reformed. Senator Azam Nazir Tarar believes that appointing judges is unacceptably risky unless the chief justice is consulted.
