Islamabad: According to news reports, Federal Minister of Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed inaugurated the improved Pakistan Online Visa System (POVS) on Wednesday (November 25).
The change, according to the specifics, made the system more user-friendly and interoperable with all devices. Pakistan has already received over 6,000 applications using the online visa system from 180 countries.

While speaking at the event, NADRA Chairman Tariq Malik expressed his expectation that the updated POVS will make it easier for applicants by halving the time it takes to fill out an application. He went on to explain that overseas travel has increased dramatically, with visa approval rates reaching 94%.
Sheikh Rashid, the Interior Minister, spoke at the ceremony held at the National Database and Registration Authority’s (NADRA) headquarters, saying that online applications are increasing Pakistan’s tourism sector and are an important tool for promoting the country’s image. He went on to say that the ease of access to Pakistan provided by the system has increased FDI and boosted economic activity in the country.

Sharing details about the POVS, it was disclosed that new categories were also incorporated including CPEC visa, medical tourism, and mountaineering & trekking visa. The business visa policy has also been updated with visa acquisition possible within 24 hours. It is pertinent to mention that the previous POVS was launched in March 2019 with a complicated process and no access through tablets and smartphones.
