Gilgit: On Sunday, two Diamer-Bhasha Dam workers were killed when a dumper vehicle crashed into a ditch on the Karakoram Highway near Harban.

Arif Ali, a 28-year-old mechanic from Hunza’s Chipurson hamlet, and Mohammad Alam, a 22-year-old dumper driver from Nagar, were confirmed as the victims. They were personnel of a Chinese firm that was working on the dam project.

According to the authorities, the victims were on their way to the dam site when the tragedy occurred. The bodies were recovered and sent to a nearby hospital by rescue crews. The bodies were returned to their native places after the medico-legal proceedings were completed.
