Islamabad: According to news reports, the government decided on Monday to enroll all transgender people in the Ehsaas Kafalat program.
At a board of directors meeting, it was decided that transgender people with valid CNICs would be eligible for financial support. As part of the initiative, participants will get a monthly stipend of PKR 2,000, as well as a bank savings account.
Transgender persons are frequently marginalized and forced to live in isolation. The transgender community’s participation in the Ehsaas Kafalat initiative is a crucial step toward their integration into society.
In addition, the board approved the creation of 154 one-stop Ehsaas centers at the district level around the country. Consumers will profit from these centers because they will provide all services under one roof. As soon as the orders are received, work on the centers will begin.
Besides that, the board expanded the Ehsaas education stipends to secondary and upper secondary levels, which will go into effect next month. The purpose of the initiative is to encourage girls to attend secondary and upper secondary education. Females will receive PKR 4,000 per quarter in school stipends, while boys would receive PKR 3,500 per quarter.
