Karachi: According to news reports, the Sindh government shared a timeline for transporting 250 buses to Karachi under the Sindh Intra District Peoples Bus Service initiative on Wednesday (October 27).

Syed Awais Qadir Shah, Sindh Transport Minister, announced that an agreement has been reached with the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC), a national defence organisation, to deliver the first shipment of 50 buses by the end of January 2022. By February 2022, he hopes that people would be able to use public transportation provided by the Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA).
According to the specifics, the NRTC will be in charge of the project’s bus operations, maintenance, and supply, as well as the construction, maintenance, and operation of bus stops and depots. The project’s initial phase will see 50 buses operating on Karachi’s highways.

The buses will run on a 33-kilometer route from Nagan Chowrangi to Singer Chowrangi and a 29.5-kilometer route from Model Colony to Tower, according to reports.
The remaining 200 buses would run from Karachi to Larkana in the following phase. More information regarding the initiative was shared, including the fact that the buses will run on six separate routes for a total distance of 10.3 kilometres.
