Lahore: Because work on the city’s three major projects – Sheranwala Gate Flyover, Shahkam Chowk Flyover, and Gulab Devi Underpass & Widening of Lahore Bridge (Kot Lakhpat) – is well underway, they are likely to be completed ahead of schedule.
Because the Gulab Devi underpass is expected to be completed soon, cars will be able to use it by December 20.
After the LDA concluded the tendering / bidding procedure and awarded the projects, construction on the aforementioned projects began in June of this year. Though there was some delay in land acquisition at first, the concerns were eventually handled.
According to papers, the Sheranwala Gate Flyover project will cost around Rs5 billion, with Rs2.634 billion for construction and the balance for land purchase and compensation. With 19 spans, the overall length and width of the flyover with ramps is 1,000 metres and 17 metres, respectively.
Aside from the flyover, some work at grade (on the ground) is underway, including a two-lane dual road (7.3 metre width each side). The project also includes a new sewerage system with a length of 2,500 metres.
