Rawalpindi: According to news reports, the Punjab government awarded the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) the tender for the game-changing Kohsar Tourism Expressway project on Tuesday (November 02). The government has also issued a work order for the project to begin as soon as possible.

FWO was won a PKR 4.5 billion tender for the 123-kilometer-long tourism expressway, which will be finished in 18 months, according to the documents. In the current fiscal year, the government has already released PKR 1.75 billion to begin construction on the project.
Sardar Usman Buzdar, Punjab Chief Minister, is expected to lay the project’s foundation stone in Kahuta in the third week of November. Sadaqat Ali Abbasi, a member of the National Assembly (MNA), believes the expressway will enhance tourism and assist open up significant investment and commercial prospects for the region’s local and international tourism businesses.

Furthermore, when completed, the tourism highway will link Rawalpindi’s four districts, namely Kalar Syedan, Kahuta, Murree, and Kotli Sattian, with the Lower Toppa and northern areas of the country. On both sides of the road, the project contains high-rise buildings, restaurants, rest stops, and motels, which will help in creating new jobs.
