Peshawar: According to news reports, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan has asked the appropriate authorities to begin acquiring land to mobilize the KP Cities Improvement Project (KPCIP). He made the remarks while chairing a high-level meeting that included Minister of Local Government Akbar Ayub and administrative secretaries from all of the departments concerned.

With the help of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the megacity improvement program ‘KPCIP’ is being launched to enhance five key provincial cities in KP: Peshawar, Kohat, Abbottabad, Mardan, and Swat.

According to the official news release, the CM was briefed on the project’s details and present status. The project includes plans to upgrade existing clean water and sewage infrastructure, as well as the establishment of solid waste management and sewage treatment plants, as well as clean and green initiatives.

The original goal of the initiative, according to the meeting participants, was to provide inhabitants with amenities and improve their quality of life. The reformation of the municipal system is also part of the strategy. Furthermore, the project plan has been finalized, and tenders are currently being processed, according to the meeting.
