He said that to receive a substantial revenue chunk from freight service, the railways needed to improve their service arrangements at freight facilities, which would pave the way for escalating the number of freight trains every day, during his visit to Karachi Bunder Yard, Wazir Mansion, Reti Lane, and Groyne Yard on Saturday, where various projects are underway.

During the minister’s visit to Wazir Mansion, Divisional Superintendent Karachi Muhammad Hanif Gul informed him of the submission of a detailed plan for the building of a container terminal at Wazir Mansion, according to a Pakistan Railways press release. The facility would significantly increase the department’s freight revenue while also greatly reducing cargo traffic in the area.
The minister also paid a visit to the Reti Lane neighbourhood, where Director Property and Lands Ameer Mohammad Daudpota outlined the plans for a 25-acre inland container depot. In addition to providing another freight train route, such a facility would allow for cross-country container train transhipment from Reti Lane.
