Peshawar: According to a piece of recent news, the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has begun a drive to install gas metres for thousands of domestic consumers in three districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

The measure would help the company monitor gas theft incidents reported in the districts of Karak, Hangu, and Kohat. According to the information revealed, these individuals believed that free gas used was a constitutional right.

As he spoke to the citizens of Karak district, SNGPL General Manager (Peshawar) Saqib Arbab expressed his delight at the locals’ willingness to acquire gas by legal means.

During the previous government’s term, the SNGPL initiated a development project called “Extension and Reconstruction of Gas Network.” The project, worth Rs. 9 billion, was fast-tracked in the districts of Karak, Hangu, and Kohat. The project’s goal was to minimize gas line losses by completing gasification and installing metres, and the first step of the project has so far resulted in the construction of 325 kilometres of the gas network in the aforementioned areas.
