At the beginning of each Smart Village in Islamabad, Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan would be set up.

A ‘Smart Village’ initiative was initiated in four provinces, Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan, by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MOIT&T), via the Universal Service Fund (USF).

The International Telecommunications Union and Huawei Technologies Pakistan will be funding and support this project technically. The project will establish a center with contemporary facilities, which will train local people to take advantage of the facilities in a backward hamlet and also urge them to include these in their everyday lives.

The ceremony was launched on Wednesday by the Federal Minister of IT and Technology, Syed Amin Ul Haq with Federal Secretary for IT and Telecommunications, Muhammad Sohail Rajput, USF CEO, Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary, South East Asia International Telecommunication Union Area Representative (ITU), Dr Ismail Shah, CEO Huawei, and Mark Meng.
