Karachi: On Tuesday, Sindh Minister for Irrigation Jam Khan Shoro presided over a meeting with department officers to examine the state of water availability in the province for the Rabi crop. The Tarbela Tunnel-5 project was also discussed at the meeting.

According to the 1991 agreement, the Indus River System Authority (Irsa) should provide Sindh with its fair share of Indus water for the Rabi crop.
“We have reservations over it because it was primarily designed to meet irrigation requirements but has now been diverted to Wapda for the purpose of power generation”, adding that this change would adversely affect Sindh’s agriculture sector.about the Tarbela Tunnel-5 project, he said.
