Karachi: According to a recent news report, the Sindh Cabinet decided to refer the question of the 2017 census findings to the provincial assembly for approval and authorized the purchase of 250 diesel hybrid electric buses for intra-district use.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presided over the conference, which began at 10 a.m. and ended at 5 p.m. Provincial ministers, advisers, Chief Secretary Mumtaz Shah, and others were present.

Despite his dissenting vote, the chief minister informed the cabinet that he had attended the Council of Common Interests (CCI) meeting on Monday via video link, where Census-2017 was authorized.

He went on to say that he had told the prime minister that all four provinces had strong concerns about the census and that it should be rerun.

The CCI since its inception has been taking consensus decisions, but this was the first decision which has been taken with a vote of dissent,” he told the cabinet and said that in such a situation he had to take up the matter in the Sindh Assembly.
