Karachi: According to news reports, the Sindh High Court (SHC) ordered the municipal government to restore amenity parks in Lerp Taiser Town (Scheme 45) on Monday (October 18). On the basis of a petition hearing against the illegal occupation of amenity parks, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and the Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project (LERP) were given the directives.

The LERP council notified the court that the amenity park had been turned into residential plots to assist households displaced by the Lyari Expressway project.

The project’s layout, according to the KMC and Sindh Building Control Authority (SCBA), displays the site as an amenity park. The court then ordered the authorities to return the plot to its original usage within a month, with a compliance report expected at the end of that period.
