Lahore: According to a news report, in its third meeting, the Punjab Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) authorised the building of the Shahbazpur bridge across the Chenab River to connect the districts of Gujrat and Sialkot, at a cost of PKR 5.434 billion, among other uplift projects.

Abdullah Khan Sumbal, Chairman of the Planning & Development (P&D) Board, presided over the meeting, which authorised five projects worth PKR 9.15 billion. Provincial Secretary P&D Imran Sikandar Baloch, Provincial Secretaries of Concerned Ministries, Senior Chief Coordination, Assistant Chief Coordination, all members of the planning and development board, and senior officials from relevant provincial agencies were in attendance at the meeting.

The details of the approved uplift projects other than Shahbazpur bridge are as follows:

  • Rehabilitation of Kahuta-Panjar-Azad Pattan Road, Rawalpindi, at the cost PKR 1.116 billion
  • Dualization of Shahi Road from Rahim Yar Khan to Chowk Bahadurpur worth PKR 1.245 billion
  • Feasibility studies of sewer via tunnel boring and development of arterial main and treatment plant 20 MGD at Jhang branch, at the cost PKR 30 million
  • Construction of District Jail Nankana Sahib, at an estimated cost PKR 1.324 billion
