Peshawar: On Monday, the district administration in Peshawar sealed educational institutions for violating coronavirus precautions, claiming 20 more lives and infecting 292 people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to a press release, the administration closed Edwardes College and School, The Smart School Saddar campus, and Fahim Model School and College in the cantonment area, while Fahim Model School and College and Iqra Model School in the Sarband area were sealed.
Deputy Commissioner Khalid Mahmood directed the concerned officials to conduct inspections of schools, businesses, and markets, as well as take action against those who violated the SOPs.
In light of the fourth wave of the pandemic and the widespread Delta variant of the virus, which was more lethal than previous strains, he urged people to follow Covid-19 precautions.
He stated that schools and colleges should remain closed in accordance with the National Command and Operation Centre’s directives because following SOPs was the only way to stop the virus from spreading.
