The Ring Road project was referred to the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) for final clearance in order to obtain permission from the federal government, according to a senior official (whose name was not disclosed).
He went on to state that the proposal to build Special Economic Zones (SEZs) along the RRR had been scrapped to save money on land acquisition. The SEZs, however, were reportedly cancelled since the initiative was not established under a public-private collaboration and was instead pursued as an annual development project.
