Hyderabad: According to news reports, the Sindh High Court’s Circuit Bench for Hyderabad – comprised of Justice Zulfiqar Ahmad and Justice Muhammad Saleem Jaseer – has reverted the building’s plan approval rights for houses to be built on 120 sq. yd. plots to the Sindh Building Control Authority’s Regional Director-Hyderabad.
The notification canceling SBCA-authority Hyderabad’s to provide these approvals was put on hold by the court.
According to reports, the court was moved by a citizen’s petition, in which he stated that he is having problems receiving SBCA clearance for the layout plans of his 120 sq. yd. house. The SBCA Hyderabad Regional Director was ordered by the court to approve the proposals, to which he responded that the rights had been transferred to the authority’s Karachi committee.
To streamline the procedure, the Sindh government previously organized SBCA into six regional directorates. However, the decision to give regional directors approval privileges was revoked by the SBCA Director-General (DG), rendering the regional directorate powerless.
Following that, the court summoned DG Shamsuddin Soomro to discuss the transfer of 120 sq. yd. construction plan approval privileges to Karachi, expressing concern with the move following the authority’s devolution.
