ISLAMABAD: Officials from Islamabad’s Safe City Project have been asked to assist the capital police in combating property crime, Dawn has learned.
The Safe City Project was asked to notify the police if it discovered illegal or suspicious activity in the city and help the police track down and locate the criminals.
According to senior police officers, the Safe City Project has been assisting the police in tracing and identifying the perpetrators at the behest of the activity division and investigation arm.
They also said that Inspector General of Police Qazi Jamilur Rehman had asked the project to play a role in crime prevention.
“The police chief had asked them to warn and notify the police concerned and patrolling workers whenever it spotted any suspicious activity anywhere in the capital through its cameras,” the officers said, adding that “the police chief had asked them to keep an eye on criminals and suspicious elements, besides keeping an eye on roads through the CCTV cameras.”
They also stated that the Eagle Squad of the capital police moves towards Smart Eagle Squad and will be involved in the programme.
