Rawalpindi: According to news reports, Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister on Information Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan announced on Thursday that the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project has been approved and work will begin in August.

During a press conference at the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) headquarters, she added that all efforts are being made to begin construction of the 38-kilometer Rawalpindi Ring Road, which runs from G.T Road to Thulian near the Motorway. The meeting was attended by RDA Chairman Tariq Murtaza, RDA Director General Nadeem Ahmed Abro, and Vice-Chairman Haroon Hashmi.

She also stated that an anti-corruption inquiry into the previous plan’s anomalies is nearing conclusion and that the decision would be made public soon.

Dr. Firdous noted at the press conference that action is being taken to address illegal stone crushing in Hasanabdal, which is causing environmental problems.
