Rawalpindi: On Sunday, Station Commander Brig Ijaz Qamar Kiani ordered the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) to clear encroachments from major thoroughfares.

The station commander, who is also the RCB president, directed the board’s engineering section to finish re-carpeting Convoy Road, Sher Khan Road, Octroi 22 and Kashmir Road during a visit to Saddar and other areas of the cantonment. He stated that he would not accept any carelessness in this respect, and that the roads should be restored as soon as possible so that citizens are not inconvenienced further.

Mr Kiani also instructed authorities to ensure that the building materials used were of the highest quality possible, as they would be examined and if any mismanagement was discovered, departmental action would be taken against the relevant officials.

The station commander requested that RCB authorities improve the living environment for residents, and that all roads, streets, and drains be cleared in the event of rain in the next week.

He stated that the goal of municipal bodies was to serve citizens with civic services, and that the government would not accept any carelessness. Visitors to major business centres should be treated with respect, and cantonment authorities have already taken steps in this direction.
