Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza announced that the Terms of Reference (ToR) for preparing Rawalpindi’s Master Plan has been approved, according to media reports published.
In the 44th meeting of RDA, the Expression of Interest (EOIs) were invited from well-known consultancy services companies for the preparation of the master plan, and structural development plan for the Rawalpindi district.
Besides this, it was stated that the Punjab government has delegated the task of approving new housing schemes in Rawalpindi district to the civic authority in 2013 and the authority took measures to prevent further mushrooming of illegal housing projects in the district. Later in 2019, the government referred approved and under-process housing schemes to RDA.
It was reported that from 2013 to 2019, 25 schemes were established, out of which only 6 were approved. Currently, RDA has issued 78 challan, 292 legal notices, sealed 106 offices, and registered 99 FIRs, and destroyed advertisement boards and gates of unapproved housing societies.
Besides this, utility departments like Sui Gas, IESCO, and PTCL were requested not to provide their services and District Collector was asked to stop land transactions in such societies. Also, the marketing and booking offices of the unapproved housing schemes were sealed. RDA has also uploaded a list of approved housing schemes on the authority’s website.
