Islamabad: According to press reports, Capital Development Authority (CDA) Director Road Waqas Farid has declared the inauguration of the PWD underpass for motorists on Thursday (October 21).

The much-delayed PKR 432 million PWD Underpass project, according to reports, is a four-lane dual underpass built on the Islamabad Expressway. The underpass’ development work has been postponed three times, but it is now planned to open to the public once the construction is completed. The project would relieve traffic congestion on the major Islamabad Expressway once it is completed.

In addition, the CDA is widening the Korang Bridge to alleviate traffic congestion on the Islamabad Expressway, which is expected to be finished by December of this year. According to the information provided, the Korang Bridge extension project was granted for PKR 628.5 million, which is 17% less than the expected cost. Similarly, the PWD project was awarded for PKR 428 million, which was 19% less than the original estimate. However, due to delays in its completion, the project’s cost climbed by 10%.
