Lahore: According to news reports, the Punjab administration decided on Monday (November 01) to supervise 7,000 current development projects in the state, following Prime Minister Imran Khan’s directions. PKR 790 million would be spent on employing private organisations to conduct Third Party Verification (TPV) and monitoring in this regard.

The Director-General (DG) Monitoring and Evaluation has been tasked with managing this project, and the fund has been legally approved by the Standing Cabinet Committee on Finance. The monitoring project’s funds will be incorporated in the annual development budget soon.

The project’s purpose, according to the information supplied, is to improve public spending while retaining transparency in government spending. It is also the first time in Punjab’s history that such a big sum of money is being spent on project monitoring.

Various government officials have made repeated requests to prevent the expropriation of public funds, since the government has granted billions of rupees in funds for several road building and development projects.
