Lahore: According to press reports, the Punjab government has decided to build a technology park in Lahore in order to strengthen the province’s information technology (IT) sector. “Technology Pura” is the name of the programme, and it will be funded with USD 25 million.

According to insiders, the aforementioned enterprise will be built in the same manner as Silicon Valley in California. In this context, laws and regulations will be simplified to guarantee that youth, entrepreneurs, and businessmen benefit from the initiative to the fullest extent possible. The provincial government has committed financing to the project, and consultants will be hired soon to study and analyse the technical zones’ potential.
In another move, during its 70th meeting, the Cabinet Committee on Law approved plans to make Punjab a twin province of Hunan, Lahore a Chinese city of Qingdao, and Multan a Chinese city of Chongqing.

During the cabinet meeting, an 18-point agenda from several departments was examined, and numerous ideas were adopted. A Service Level Agreement was signed by the Punjab Information Technology Board and the Board of Revenue. The Punjab Empowerment Act 2021 for handicapped people, as well as the Punjab Ab Pash Forest and Ecotourism Act 2021 and the development of the Rachna Wildlife Park in Gujranwala, were all approved by the government.
