Balochistan: The Punjab government has withdrawn funds from a general hospital project in Turbat, Balochistan, that had been set aside under the current fiscal year’s Annual Development Program (ADP).
The Punjab government has withdrawn Rs50 million from the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department’s (SHC&MED) Annual Development Plan (ADP) for the establishment of a 100-bed general hospital in Turbat.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar announced the construction of a 100-bed hospital in Turbat and a pilgrim complex in Taftan for Rs1 billion during his visit to Balochistan in July last year.
A total of Rs750 million was set aside for the construction of a hospital in Turbat, while another Rs250 million was set aside for the development of a pilgrim complex near the Pakistan-Iran border in Taftan. On the occasion, Buzdar also handed over a cheque for Rs1 billion to Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan. Prime Minister Imran Khan paid a visit to Turbat in November 2020 and outlined several development plans.
According to SHC&MED sources, the department withdrew Rs50 million from the project and redirected the funding to ongoing projects at Punjab’s public hospitals.
SHC&MED Secretary Barrister Nabeel A. Awan, however, did not respond to a request for comment in this regard.
The Punjab government has given large sums for the development of a hospital in Turbat, according to Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar. He was speaking with Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti, a Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Balochistan Reconciliation and Harmony, who paid him a visit in Lahore today (Saturday).

The Punjab government, according to the Chief Minister, will do all possible to provide more health facilities to Balochistan.
Shahzain Bugti praised Usman Bazdar’s contributions to the development of Punjab and Balochistan.
