Lahore: According to press reports on December 12, the Punjab government has formed teams to inspect the building work and materials used in the province’s key development projects.

Additional directors and assistant directors from various locations will be included in the teams, who will monitor and assess the quality of the materials used in the projects. According to the sources, the local government will be punished for failing to maintain quality as a result of the monitoring teams’ quality assessment reports.

In this regard, the administration has appointed two teams to monitor various parts of the province. Team A will supervise development projects in the divisions of Sargodha, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Multan, and Bahawalpur, while Team B will visit the construction sites of major development projects in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Lahore, and Gujranwala. In addition, the teams will visit construction sites and document the materials used in construction.

Teams will gather samples using non-destructive sampling methods and transmit weekly reports to the government, along with payment to contractors for related development projects, for projects with development expenses under PKR 5 million. It was also told that a decision had been made to monitor and maintain the quality of construction of the various public development plans, as well as to keep budget embezzlement to a minimum.
