Lahore: According to news sources, the Punjab government appointed building inspectors as enforcement inspectors on Thursday to enforce construction rules across the state.

Under Section 283 read with Section 306 (2) of the Punjab Local Government Act, 2019, the Local Government & Community Development Department issued a notification to that effect. Enforcement officers can now file a lawsuit for “altering or converting the building / premises / part (commercial building) into any use other than the one stipulated in the legislation and the authorised plan.”

The chosen authorities will have the ability to take action against the construction or re-construction of structures that are too near to a setback, parking area, or building line that are intended to be left open by the regulations. The planning branch of the municipal government will be in charge of the chosen individual.

The decision was taken, according to people acquainted with the issue, to fully implement laws that the government had been unable to enforce owing to a lack of required employees. Once selected, the officers will keep an eye on the buildings to ensure that they are being built and used in line with the original concept and intent, as well as monitoring the visual condition inspection.
