Lahore: According to news reports, the Punjab Planning and Development (P&D) department had a kick-off meeting with the Asian Development Bank and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank teams on August 9 to discuss the ‘Punjab Sustainable Highway Development Project.’ Abdullah Khan Sumbal, Chairman of the P&D Board, presided over the meeting.
A 535-kilometer network of dual carriageway highway sections between several cities in Punjab will be built/rehabilitated as part of the highway development project. The project entails the repair of existing carriageways as well as the building of a secondary carriageway within the right-of-way of the road. According to reports, the land would be purchased to build the road where it is needed.
Punjab’s Sustainable Highway Development Project will strengthen the province’s transportation system. According to sources, the meeting participants discussed the project’s outcomes, expected cost, impact, scope, and implementation arrangements. The proposed loan’s terms and circumstances were also taken into account, according to reports.
