Lahore: According to press reports, the Punjab government has launched an environmentally friendly, sustainable energy plan, under which up to 4,000 public schools will be converted to solar electricity.

According to the information provided, the government’s ‘Ujala’ plan aims to convert public schools to solar electricity. More than 450 of the 4,000 schools that have been designated for the programmes are public schools.
The energy department of the province government has chosen two private firms that bid the lowest price to assist in the implementation of these programmes. After a transparent bidding process, the private enterprises were short-listed.

Moreover, it was highlighted that the schools will be converted to solar energy in several packages. This initiative will not only help reduce carbon footprint but also reduce costs incurred in electricity bills in the long term.
