Islamabad: As per the latest news, a private organization has initiated an effort to vaccinate, rescue, and naturalize stray dogs in Islamabad.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) used to shoot stray dogs, but in a ceremony conducted here on Tuesday, a private organization, Comprehensive Disaster Response Services (CDRS), started the Benji Project for animal welfare and rescue.

Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat also attended the event as a guest and praised the initiative for animal welfare. CDRS Director Ubaidur Rehman stated that the organization has been helping stray dogs with refuge and rescue in four locations around the country. In Islamabad, a center has been established for the treatment of injured dogs.

The organization will now begin the process of rehabilitating stray dogs.

The center has the capacity to naturalize 200 dogs, who will be released after receiving suitable treatment.

Then the next group of dogs would be operated on, according to Mr. Rehman, who added that five specially equipped cars have been dispatched to rescue and pick up stray dogs.
