Islamabad: According to media sources, President Dr Arif Alvi passed Public Land Ordinance 2021 on Tuesday to combat encroachment and unlawful occupancy of public property. Under Article 89 of the Constitution, the president issued the ordinance.
According to the ordinance, the competent official has the authority to issue an order for the unlawfully occupied property to be vacated. If the property is not removed within the specified period, the officer has the authority to take appropriate measures, including the use of force if required.

Furthermore, according to the Public Property Ordinance, the police will help the administration in removing grabbers from government property. The whole cost of removing encroachments will be recovered from the unlawful occupiers, who will also face penalties and jail, according to the legislation.
President Alvi would establish an applet tribunal in collaboration with the chief justice, according to the legislation. This body will be in charge of dealing with issues such as the seizure of state property and the clearance of encroachments.
