Peshawar: According to news reports, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan approved the formation of a project management unit (PMU) to hasten construction on the Gandhara Valley City project on Wednesday (November 17).

The decision was made during a Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) board meeting held to assess the project’s progress. The chief minister also approved the name of the Gandhara Valley project to the New Peshawar City Project during the meeting. According to reports, the PDA will advertise key programme management posts for the planned PMU as soon as possible in order to complete the hiring process.

Residential and commercial zones, as well as a media enclave and a provincial office, are all part of the New Peshawar City project, which would span 108,000 kanals.

The land acquisition procedure for the project has already begun, and the master plan will be completed by April of next year, according to the participants. Moreover, during the meeting, the draught PDA Private Housing Schemes (Management and Regulations) Rules, 2021 were approved. During the next session of the provincial legislature, the measure will be introduced.
