Dasu: According to news reports, Prime Minister Imran Khan paid a visit to the Dasu Dam construction site on Friday to assess the project’s development.

The PM was briefed by the project’s international workers and engineers during his visit. The Prime Minister stated during a news conference that dam construction is vital for the country because it will help overcome the difficulties of power generation and water scarcity. He further added that this initiative will provide the country with clean and affordable electricity to meet its power needs. It would also help to reduce inflation by easing the burden on consumers.

The first phase of the project, according to reports, would be completed by 2025 and will cost PKR 511 billion. The project will provide the national grid with 2,160 megawatts of power. The capacity will increase to 4,320 megawatts when it reaches the second phase in 2029.
