Islamabad: According to news reports, Prime Minister Imran Khan launched the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA)-backed letter of administration and succession certificate system for Punjab on Wednesday (July 15). The move is part of the government’s e-governance initiative, which aims to make the system paperless and transparent.

People will be able to receive a succession certificate in 15 days after the Letter of Administration and Succession Certificates Act is implemented, rather than going through lengthy court proceedings. The Governor of Punjab issued the Punjab Succession Certificates Ordinance, 2021 in this regard in May.

In addition, the premier noted that introducing e-governance and going paperless will eliminate corruption and increase openness in the government sector.

He further announced that by the end of August, all of Islamabad’s land records will be digitized. Land conflicts presently account for more than half of all cases filed in courts, therefore this would reduce the load of court proceedings.

The prime minister also praised the law ministry’s efforts to provide certificates and expedite the project’s completion.
