Islamabad: According to press reports, Prime Minister Imran Khan announced the division of South Waziristan into two administrative zones on Thursday. The decision was made to improve the administrative infrastructure and speed up the development of the region.

During his speech to a farmers’ convention, Prime Minister Khan said that development in the fields of agriculture, population control, timely provision of justice, the end of the oppressive system, the best educational environment, better health facilities, and increased productivity are all critical for the country’s development.

During the event, the premier also handed out Kissan Cards to the region’s farmers. According to sources, out of 500,000 registered farmers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Kissan Cards are being issued to 200,000 farmers in the first wave. Farmers will be provided interest-free/low-margin loans in the second phase, and harvests will be guaranteed. Farmers would receive a PKR 1,048.38 million subsidy to encourage agriculture in the province for the fiscal year 2021-22.
