Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) proposed approval of the 360-km Peshawar-Dera Ismail Khan Motorway for PKR 27.6529 billion and the Dir Motorway for PKR 38.991 billion to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday. Both projects are expected to reduce traffic congestion and provide a quick path to move inside the region, according to reports.

The CDWP meeting was chaired over by CDWP Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, who approved two development projects totaling PKR 3.37 billion and submitted three projects to ECNEC worth PKR 402.3 billion.

Projects from many areas, including physical planning and housing, government, education, and transportation and communication, were discussed during the meeting. The establishment of the Public Financial Management Unit (PFMU) and Program Support Unit (PSU) in the Finance Department and the Planning and Development (P&D) Board under the Punjab Resources Improvement and Digital Effectiveness (PRIDE) Program was announced as a new governance project worth PKR 8.6785 billion.
