Kohat: According to deputy commissioner Roshan Mehsud, who launched the “Clean and Green Pakistan” and “One Citizen, Two Plants” campaigns here on Thursday, “all people and departments should eagerly participate in plantation programmes to make the nation green and pollution free.”

He regretted that most plants perished after plantation owing to a lack of adequate maintenance, speaking after planting a tree in the KDA Township’s park as principal guest.
He said that Pakistan was one of the fortunate countries that had two planting seasons, but that they were not fully using them. Mr. Mehsud was joined by KDA’s SDO for Horticulture Mian Iftikhar Inayatullah Marwat, project director Saeed Anwar Khattak, Kohat Cement Company’s social responsibility officer Kifayatullah, and others.

He stated that it was their religious and national obligation to participate in tree planting in order to make up for the damage done and pass the country on to future generations in excellent shape.
Mian Iftikhar stated that 1,250 plants will be planted in KDA Township, and that they would be cared for by a separate agency. According to Kifayatullah, the forest department has already planted 51,000 trees in the district with the help of the cement firm.
