Rawalpindi: According to news reports, the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) authorised the PKR 24 billion Project Concept-1 (PC-1) of the Rawalpindi Ring Road project on Tuesday (October 26).

The 38.3-kilometer triple-lane dual highway project will begin at the Banth to Thalian Interchange on National Highway 5 (N5), Grand Trunk Road. In addition, five interchanges would be built along the whole circle of the project at Chakbeli Road, Adiala Road, and Chakri Road, according to reports.

Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah told the media that the project is moving along quickly. The disbursement of PKR 24 billion would boost the economy even further.

The Punjab Planning and Development Board (PPDB) recently approved the project’s land acquisition. Land acquisition will cost PKR 6.1 billion under the updated PC-1. The project had previously been suspended due to suspicions of theft of finances and the land purchase procedure.
