Lahore: According to reports released on Monday, the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) attracted global investment worth PKR 45 billion during the International Business Conference held in Dubai International Financial City (November 22).

While witnessing the signing of 20 Memorandums of Understandings (MoUs), Provincial Minister for Industries, Commerce, Investment, and Skill Development Department Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal noted that Punjab is quickly becoming a global investment destination.

Minister of Finance for the Province At the conference, Hashim Jawan Bakht, Provincial Minister for Higher Education and Information Technology Raja Yasir Humayun, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister (SACM) on Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) and Tourism Asif Mehmood, PBIT Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Erfa Iqbal, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) His Excellency Afzaal Mahmood were present.

Provincial Minister Aslam announced two new projects during the conference to promote and support investments and the growth of start-ups in the province. Investment Portal, an online information centre developed to assist investors and the business community, was one of the initiatives introduced.

The Pakistan Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020 will include a start-up moot and project exhibitions as part of this effort. The UAE Help Desk was the second initiative to be unveiled, which is an office space that will be constructed in the country in order to attract investment from the UAE business community to Punjab.
