Islamabad: According to news reports, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi informed European Union (EU) Parliament delegates on Wednesday (November 03) that Pakistan will observe international conventions negotiated under the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP+) Plus.

In a meeting with the EU Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with South Asian Countries, led by Nicola Procaccini, the minister reaffirmed same comments. He stated that the administration is committed to reforming and adjusting the current infrastructure in order to keep its promises.

He also remarked that the GSP+ status has shown to be beneficial to Pakistan’s people and commerce development. He went on to say that the reciprocal benefits are the consequence of the Pakistan-EU Strategic Engagement Plan, which has provided bilateral relations stability.

Similarly, he stated that the foundation and structure for multifaceted engagement between the two parties is growing. Remember that Pakistan has GSP+ status, which entitles it to preferential tariffs and tax savings when exporting to EU countries. Pakistan’s responsibilities and trade potential are being assessed by the EU trade commission in order to extend its GSP+ status for the next two years.
